A rogue and evil glitch took down my iPhone the other day, forcing me to wipe it clean. Thankfully, I had my photos backed up! Looking over the past year in pics had me fondly recalling all the fun had, progress made, places traveled, things learned--and, among other revelations, which pieces of clothing I excessively wore! The Reformation dress, above and now on sale, was one of 2018's most tried and trusted, and so is the recently purchased ASTR blazer, below (extraordinary cost per wear as it was $138!), along with these forever-good button front Madewell jeans, this flattering Rebecca Taylor velvet maxi, and this super cute Ganni sweater. In 2019, I'd like to have on repeat looks like this everyday-ready blouson Topshop sweater, these endlessly versatile TKEES leather lace up sandals, this romantic Love Shack Fancy dress, this zip-up Asos knit (I tried to steal one like this from my sis to no avail!), and these wear-with-everything Isabel Marant sneakers.
end all be all

running ahead
Thursday, December 27My usual Thursday morning Body By Simone dance cardio class looked noticeably different this morning, with everyone, it seemed, sweating it out in fresh, new Santa-delivered workout gear. The gaggle of goodness was quite inspiring--and got me panting for some more stylish exercise essentials to see me (leaner and stronger!) through next year. Among the noteworthy styles spotted: this cut-out Alo sports bra (I just bought it in black!), this sexy Alala tie-back jersey top, this Fila hoodie (good in and out of the gym!), this Heroine one-shoulder sports bra (how glam!), these PE Nation navy/checked leggings, this under-$15 Forever 21 twist front top (yes!), and these chic Tory Sport chevron leggings. My running pants, above, are by GAP and on sale!
cleaning up
Wednesday, December 26While Santa delivered everything I wanted and then some (he was particularly generous to me this year with these Anne Sisteron earrings), I couldn't help pouncing on a few post-Christmas sales this morning, including the bonanza at Nordstrom, where I snapped up this Toga beaded cardigan (70% off!) and the striped puff-sleeve Self Portrait sweater, above. Also soooo tempting: this NYE-ready Rachel Comey jumpsuit, this pretty Isabel Marant broderie anglaise blouse, these super versatile Tibi ankle boots, and this elegant Johanna Ortiz print dress. Meanwhile, at Neiman Marcus, scores such as this sleek Saint Laurent blouse, this Loewe bucket bag, this Talulah floral print mini dress, and this punchy Iro midi are up for grabs. And if all of this isn't enough, Yoox is having a 90% off sale. That's not a typo!
me time
Friday, December 21After days and days of holiday shopping for others, I'm feeling like a little self-gifting is in order! Sign me up for the statement-making open back Pixie Market sweater above, and the chic belted stole, below, to replace the one my sister borrowed and lost a few weeks ago in New York. There are also loads of self-indulgent steals to be had, with pre-Christmas sales raging full-on, such as at Matches (yes, please to these Aquazurra sandals, this Valentino sweater and these Isabel Marant corduroy trousers!), Topshop (I want to show up at the next soiree in these!), and Shopbop to stock up pretty practicals like this, this and this. Merry merry, myself!
cardigan crush
Thursday, December 20Mixed in with this morning's grim headlines was a thankfully light/engaging read from Vogue about 2018's best fashion trends that debuted on Instagram and then exploded. The obvious ones were highlighted--the leopard slip skirt, the basket bag--and other less conspicuous, such as the nightgown for day and my current new favorite, the "sexy cardigan." Perfect example: above by Free People. I love this trend because it's actually really wearable both day and night and can be found at any price point, but mostly because "sexy" is however you define it. I define it with these beauties from Doen, Chloe, Love Shack Fancy, Otto d'ame, and Asos. (The cropped knit below is by Rouje, and a similar one can be found here.)

print pantastic
Tuesday, December 18I bought these snake-print H&M pants ages ago and they are still as stylish as ever. I wore them in Rome recently, above, and got asked by a handful of chic Italian women where they could buy them. Lo and behold, The Reformation just came out with a version that's equally gorgissima!

stocking stuffers
Monday, December 17Maybe it's LA's beach weather that has me still in Christmastime denial. I am, however, lucid about one thing: this $15 (on sale!) summery dress, similar to the one I am wearing above, would be an amazing stocking stuffer (or self gift!). Also great (and some very practical) under $50 finds: this Pat McGrath Highlighter and Duo Balm (my beauty editor/makeup artist friends swear by this glow-inducer, and my best friend gave it to me yesterday--magic!), these pretty pinstriped H&M pajamas (bought these for myself!), this Shashi pave ear cuff (cute for my niece!), this colorful Iphoria iPhone cable (fun for my always traveling sis), this international Native Union charger (ditto), these cashmere striped J.Crew mittens, and these booty-shaping exercise bands by Sweat with Bec (I could def use these!).
belle elle
Friday, December 14Elle Strauss is one of the girls who's always wearing exactly what I want to wear. When we worked together on photo shoots at Lucky Magazine (ages ago!), I'd basically shop her outfits on set, purchasing piece by piece (or derivatives, if needed) via my cell phone. Now is no different, as I just bought the cutest Sarah Chloe earrings she designed and wearing, above. They feature a pair of irregular shaped freshwater pearls that can be removed for a versatile day to night look. LOVE (and love the price!). Plus, I snapped up the Anine Bing wool blazer that will see me through chilly LA days, plus the leg-lengthening Madewell jeans she's wearing below!
take it from the top
Wednesday, December 12I was trying not to be a last-minute holiday shopper. I hit the Grove last week in search of family gifts, but somehow I ended up in Topshop's dressing room, surrounded by a bounty of amazing party dresses. All for me! And, um, oopsie, I bought them all, including the spotted print sexy slit dress! Also in the bag: this belted print dress, this floral maxi (obsessed!), and this houndstooth drama queen! The scary thing is I could have left with even more dresses if I were able to get away with it. I mean, how great is this lace-trimmed lovely and clever hybrid situation?
for real
Tuesday, December 11I'm not joking: I broke my closet. The shelves came crashing down the other day under the weight of oversized sweaters, compressed cover-ups, forgotten t-shirts, you name it. So, I finally did what I've been putting off for way too long. I weeded out a mother lode of beloved pieces that I've held on to but not worn for ages, including the gorgeous (so sad to see it go!) lace Erdem skirt, above, along with the pretty Doen maxi, below, and hauled them over to The Real Real. I suggest you check out a few of my favorite hits before they find another (unbroken) closet, such as these Aquazurra sandals, this MSGM one-shoulder top, and this embroidered resort-ready Figue dress.
dear santa 2018
Monday, December 10I've been sharing my kids' holiday wish lists for years now with you, and while I may be the only one who think these lists are cute (as they're my kids!), they also perfectly chronicle aging/maturation/life moving on. They're like time capsules! My oldest son's 2018 list is a thoughtful mix of little boy-meets-big-boy wants, accurately revealing his 12 years of age. The predominant theme: comfort, from the inflatable couch (!?) to the sweatpants to the crystals to the in-room swing (!?). Even James and Cody, our guinea pigs, are in on the hygge action. His list inspired me to craft my own: a medley of high and low, practical and indulgent. Unlike his though, mine is an adult working list, meaning I will keep revising it up until the last minute, because I know Santa can pull through! Check out what I have so far here!
party toppers
Thursday, December 6Finding a good party dress is a piece of cake, but figuring out what to wear over it frequently trips me up! For sure, I don't like a topper that's too matchy-matchy. However, I do like a layer that's a bit unexpected and keeps me warm, if need be. So, as a service to me (and hopefully to you!), I poked around to find some great options. They include this long tuxedo-inspired H&M jacket, above, this sequin Alexis blazer, this pinstriped Ganni, this Comme des Garcons embellished sweater, this Clu pleated sleeve cardigan, and this J.Crew jacket.
sexy sweaters
Wednesday, December 5A sexy sweater may sound like an oxymoron, but it actually exists! Typically scarce, I've found a handful of seductive specimens this season, which is fortunate, as they're all I want to wear, because they wow everywhere from Le Charlot to Little Beach House. For starters, take this Ganni-inspired off-the-shoulder Miss Selfridge, above, along with this open-backed Tanya Taylor, this shoulder-baring Pixie Market, this cropped and fitted Love Shack Fancy, and this cut-out Monse.
puffer power
Tuesday, December 4These pics do not lie: puffers possess extra pow this season. There's no denying that this once boring closet staple can now punctuate an outfit, and there are so many eye-popping options to choose from. I recently snapped up this sleek and statement-making Mango, below, that I can wear on the slopes and the city streets. Other super good options come from Free People, above, Asos, Theory, and Ganni.
shoulda woulda coulda
Monday, December 3Too many times I've procrastinated buying something I really liked only to have it sell out. I debated the sparkly situation by Asos, above, (too much? too gold?), but then ultimately pressed the purchase button as it cost under $300 (and is returnable). It was a huge success at a holiday party this weekend--and it's now--yay me!--sold out. This prompts me to once again re-consider other options I've been debating lately such as this floral Topshop dress (I first spotted it on a NYC-based fashion publicist), these Anne Sisteron huggies (I love how it looks like two studs!), this vaca-ready Acler mini, and this Amur one-shoulder knockout. My sister is wearing a gorgeous Carolina Herrera dress that she pinched from my closet. It can be found here (on sale!).
