paris review

My trip to Paris was a whirlwind of fashion shows and incredible meals (L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Prunier, L'Avenue, Le Perchoir, Ma Cocotte), mixed in with shopping, chateau-ing (Vaux le Vicomte), Kir Royal-ing and Left to Right Banking, and, fortunately, the clothes I packed stood up to it all. The true saviors were my various white blouses, which I wore day in and day out (and sometimes at night, too!) with everything from cropped jeans to fitted black pants to navy wide-leg trousers. In the pic, above, taken after flea marketing at Le Marche Aux Puces, I'm wearing a tie-accented top by Zara, which I snapped up right before I left for my trip. The other one I brought garnered multiple tres jolie compliments. Since I can't ever have too much of this good white blouse thing, I hunted down some more and found these stylish globe-trotters from Tibi, Theory, Vanessa Bruno, Derek Lam, ElleryWarehouse, and Anna Sui.

Love all the white blouse options. Who makes your amazing sweater?

My sweater is by Figue. It is from several seasons ago, but Figue came out with another version, which you can find at this link:

Hi! I'd love to know what you wear on your feet when you're on them all day. Headed to Paris soon and can't figure this one out!! Flats tend to make my back scream! thanks!!

Same question as Liz! I have high arches and flats are painful to wear for long walks. I wear boots nonstop in the winter, but am looking for a simple ballerina/pump with a deep cut at the toes and a moderate block heel. I have plenty of dressy loafers but would love something a littler more elegant/classic :-)

I mostly wore my white Stan Smith sneakers--and I was not alone. I am not lying when I tell you that tons of women in Paris, across all ages, are wearing cool sneakers, and they're wearing them with skirts, dresses, jeans, etc. If you can't do the sneaker thing or flats, a short block heel is the way to go. In fact, I bought a Chanel pair while I was in Paris. I will post about them and others soon!

Great! Thank you, Marlien! The block heel is so much better for city walking (think metal grates and cobblestones) and has that great 60's/70's vibe as seen in Man From UNCLE. Agree on the white sneakers ....
