While it seems everyone is on vacation (hence my intermittent posting!), not everyone is off their style game, particularly Russian stylist Natasha Goldenberg. Her off-duty look, captured in these recent Instagram snaps, is anchored in comfortable yet decidedly chic pieces, such as statement-y jackets (the one, above, is by Chloe), ankle-grazing caftans, boyfriend jeans, and gorgeous flats. Together these pieces effect citified polished mixed with laid-back ease. My favorite example: the hand-painted Burberry trench, pictured below, with open-toe beach-ready sandals and a ladylike Goyard. I'd like to emulate Natasha's style with effortlessly chic jackets like this color-blocked Iro, this Asos trench coat, and this army green NLST topper (similar to the one in last pic), standout flats like these metallic Superga sneakers, these leopard print Steve Madden sandals, these Prada tasseled beauties, and these gold accented Nine West sandals (for $19!), and if the temperature permits, this Jen's Pirate Booty cover-up, this 9Seed Tulum dress, this Indian print Banjanan and this Figue caftan.

Merry, merry! Hope Santa delivered everything you wanted and then some! If not, you may want to pounce on the post-Christmas sales, offering crazy deep discounts, like at Yoox, where things are marked down up to 99%! Yes, you read that right. I'm tempted by this sheer, sexy, south of the border-ready Missoni dress and this winter-cute Miu Miu jacket. Shopbop's sale is also chock full of goodness, such as this flirty Keepsake romper, this utilitarian BB Dakota parka, and these Kate Spade moto boots. Bergdorf Goodman has a robust assortment of next-season-perfect shoes, like these beauts from Prada, Gianvito Rossi and Givenchy, all reduced by 60%. Over at Nordstrom, I'm seriously loving this edgy cool leather jacket by The Kooples (40% off) and this python print Michael Kors dress (60% off). Last but not least: the gorgeous pink winter wonderland-perfect jacket from Whistles, pictured above, is on sale here and here.
P.S. The presents, below, hand made by my kiddos, were definitely my favorites, but a very nice elf also brought these Etoile Isabel Marant sandals, this Roberta Roller Rabbit fringed caftan, and this cool Andreas Gurskey print.

High on my twin's Christmas list (are you listening, brother-in-law?) is a simply elegant, infinitely versatile rose gold-plated choker by Jennifer Fisher. It has an adjustable 3-inch opening, which can go in the front or the back--I like the opening in front. Yes, of course, now I want one too.

This morning I was talking with a friend about her upcoming trip to Mexico and she asked me what she should pack for her trip. (Um, pack me?) For those of you who are about to jet off to sunny climes, here are the newest, cutest poolside-perfect pieces I'd bring: these about-to-sell-out lace-up K Jacques sandals (next summer's must-have!) or this similar-looking Isabel Marant pair; several statement one-piece swimsuits such as this crochet She Made Me (pictured above) and this halter-style Acacia; along with a few stay-on, standout bikinis by Lisa Marie Fernandez (so chic!), Mikoh (the back is almost better than the front!) and Topshop (love the scalloped edges and stripes). I also love this crochet bralette bikini. I'd fill up this canvas Tory Burch beach bag with books I'm dying to read like Big Little Lies, All the Light We Cannot See, and Not That Kind of Girl. And I'd happily slip into any of these effortlessly glam cover-ups by Love Sam, Vix, Shop Latitude, Figue, Equipment, and Lotta Stensson. For evenings out, I'd bring a range of options from this sea breeze-proof Maiyet sweater to this raffia-trimmed vibrant Gypset mini to this Cosmo-ready silk chiffon Tamara Mellon jumpsuit to this flirty off-the-shoulder Clover Canyon. P.S. I'd also take the body, above, if I could!
Inspired by Louis Vuitton's highly coveted (and totally sold out!) tie-the-knot belt, above and below, I'd like to whittle my waist and add a right-this-minute flourish to an outfit by twisting one of my own skinny belts into a neat, new-looking loop--or even better, tying on one of these pre-knotted agony-free leather belts such as this B-Low The Belt, this Asos, or this Topshop.
These booties boast sexy Alaia-like gorgeousness--minus the sky-high price.

I can't recall a year when there wasn't a J.Crew box under our Christmas tree, and this year there will be a surfeit, as over the weekend, I mined its crazy sale (think 40% off sweaters, 30% off everything else--get the code here--hurry sale ends today!). Of course, I couldn't help snapping up a few things for moi, including this cashmere boyfriend sweater in black and this cashmere hoodie. Other good gift ideas: this glass tumbler set (too cute!), this sleek choker (want!) and this pajama set (need!). While I was busy mining, I came across some of these beautiful images on their site and remembered that, duh!, my twin sister shot them in Norway last summer. Pretty stunning, huh? Now if she can just shoot my kids this way for next year's holiday card...
This chain handled bag pretty much sums up timeless elegance.

A few weeks ago, friends of mine told me they were planning to host a '70s-themed party at Aspen's Cloud Nine, a rollicking fun, dance-on-the-tables, champagne-dripping-from-the-ceiling lunch spot atop Aspen Highlands Mountain. Of course, I loved this idea and even plotted my outfit (all before having an actual plane ticket to Colorado in hand!): a pair of swirly-print Pucci ski pants, a skintight turtleneck, and a rainbow-bright ski vest! But as luck would have it, the hosts are now thinking '80s (and Vuarnets, neon)--and thus (though I still can't wait for the party!) I've been left looking for somewhere else to focus my '70s mojo. Fortunately, I have not had to look far, as the Spring '15 looks from designers like Chloe, Prada, Gucci, and Stella McCartney, are all about re-interpreting the free love era's best (and slinkiest!) silhouettes, chief among them the tie-neck blouse. It looks a lot cooler and sexier than its '70s-secretary predecessor. Take, for example, Chloe's gorgeous pre-fall version, pictured above, with slightly sheer billowy sleeves. (P.S. Also note how it's tied around the neck!) With so many designers successfully executing this soon-to-be-a-staple now, I'd like to get the party started with these elegant lovelies from Topshop (which my twin just bought and I plan to steal!), Equipment (also work-appropriate), Red Valentino (40% off), Miu Miu, Derek Lam, and NYDJ.

There are certain pieces of clothing that have the ability to up your game in an instant, and the Free People linen jacket, pictured above, is one of them. With its spot-on frayed edges and waterfall collar, it looks cool in that effortless-I just-threw-it-on-and-look-seriously-chic way. Plus, it's everyday wearable and crazily versatile. Seriously, what more could one ask for?
I love this luxe take on the grey sweatshirt--and how it would offer (consecutive) days of style and comfort.

Rarely do my black (cropped, tapered) trousers stay at home when I travel. They pretty much go (and work!) everywhere, and this proved true last Saturday night, when I wore them out to dinner at the Waverly Inn in New York. It was a rainy and cold evening--and my pants stood up to the (damp-to-toasty-chic) conditions perfectly, along with this black embellished Topshop sweater and these Gianvito Rossi black pumps. Of course, we all know that black pants are slimming, flattering and universally appropriate--the ultimate wardrobe workhorse--but the really excellent ones are also strangely and frustratingly elusive. Which may explain why I've been wearing the same Zara do-it-all pair for years now! Still, I managed to sleuth out some new compelling options, as I'm selfishly wanting a back-up or two, and found these standouts from Vika Gazinskaya (similar to above), Vince, Etro, The Kooples, 3.1 Phillip Lim, J. Crew, Zara, and Burberry Brit.
It's as festive as a fancy frock but has the laid-back ease of a t-shirt. Genius in my book.

Lucky me, I was in New York over the weekend to celebrate my mother's birthday. Though we were staying downtown, she really wanted to do lunch at an old favorite Upper East side French restaurant, so we battled our way there through the rain and traffic. I was secretly wishing we could have stayed closer to home (or Balthazar)--until we sat down to eat. Everything about lunch was grand, from the glass (and a half!) of champagne to the creme brulee to the basket of bread and salted butter in between. And, of course: elegantly-attired diners everywhere. Men and women, young and old, decked out in sophisticated Upper East Side-meets-Euro classics: cashmere sweaters, generously oversize coats, tailored blazers, delicate silk blouses, etc. The glamorous scene made me want to add more of these refined, always-chic pieces to my wardrobe, wear-again-and-again staples like this feminine lace-trimmed Valentino sweater (40% off), this sleek and neutral Alexander Wang coat (40% off) this glinty (Chanel-ish) crochet metallic cardigan by Topshop (which I bought post-lunch!), this classic Chloe leather tote (40% off), this tweed Isabel Marant jacket (40% off), this lavish parfait of a Jimmy Choo clutch (35% off), this dashing Zara cape, and this polished Elizabeth and James button-down blouse (60% off).
I am obsessed with this superglam cardigan that I bought on Friday in New York. I've been wearing it (non-stop) like this...
1. Joseph bow silk blouse, $395, netaporter.com
2. Topshop shaggy faux fur cardigan, $125, topshop.com
3. J. Brand jeans, $200, netaporter.com

This year my youngest son was more excited than ever to give me his holiday wish list, above, because for the first time he could write (and illustrate!) it himself. While I'll leave all the toy requests to Santa's elves, I personally would like to fulfill his request for new "black, green and grey" socks, as I empathize with his desire for specific colored accessories! In fact, I have a few specific colored accessories on my own list, which is as follows:
1. Valentino studded sandals in Tan or Burgundy (I can't decide which color as they're both so good and versatile! Last year I bought myself a pair of Chanel sandals for Xmas, which I wore like crazy all last summer. Though it seems wrong to buy sandals now, it's actually wise because the best designer sandals always sell out before spring actually arrives!)
2. Rimowa carry-on in silver (indestructible, utilitarian chic)
3. Jawbone Wireless Bluetooth speaker in white (for days and sunsets spent on the beach!)
4. An unapologetically decadent party dress such as this blingy Kate Spade, this sequined Alice & Olivia or this beaded Gucci
5. Resort-ready super chic caftans like this, this and this (all on sale!) for warm getaways this winter
6. Art like this framed cityscape photograph, this Picasso print, and a fashion-y illustration by Donald Robertson (all hung together, gallery-like, on a wall)
7. Monica Vinader rose gold diamond bracelet (so delicate, so beautiful!)
8. Eberjey pajamas: comfortable but cute, plus the top can be worn outside the bedroom
9. Plenty More: the long-anticipated vegetarian cook book follow-up to London chef Yotam Ottolenghi's Plenty
10. My biggest and most desired wish, however, is something no one can shop for: Good health for my family and friends! I wish you all the same!
This bohemian-chic cardigan is winter's best (and coziest) answer to all my summery embroidered tunics.

There's no denying that boots are the ultimate wintertime wardrobe workhorse--but there's a time, actually right about now, when they just start to feel a bit Groundhog Day-ish! Enter the lace-up ankle bootie--executed so stylishly, so refreshingly, so alluringly on Paris-based fashion editor Capucine Safyurtlu, above. They even look sexy--and yet still manage to be workhorse-y! Particularly these options from Sezane, J.Crew, 10 Crosby Derek Lam (40% off), Steve Madden, Madewell, Sam Edelman, Fratelli Rossetti, and Saint Laurent (40% off!).
