sheer force

In the spirit of Throw Back Thursday--and inspired by the seductively sheer Spring 2015 dresses Balenciaga showed today in Paris--I dug up this photo, taken last November at a charity gala. I'm on the right, boldly showing things off (namely my American Apparel high-waisted bikini bottom) underneath a sheer beaded lace vintage dress. I suspect we'll be seeing more leg (and things), now that these peekaboo pieces are parading down the catwalks. Currently, I am tempted by this sexy but not too sexy MSGM lace pencil skirt or this one by Karla Spectic, this semi-sheer embroidered Reiss top, this gorgeous Rachel Comey black lace overlay dress and this white see-through Pixie Market frock.

You look AMAZING! This reminds me of an outfit Carrie Bradshaw wore in Sex and the City, but I think you pulled it off better!!

You do look terrific...but arrrrrrgh see through? It will be their own fault when woman over 55 are forced to wear this stuff. LOL. Here in LA, some affluent women have no sense...

I'm with the fug girls on this one. One trend I wish would see a quick and painful demise.

Oh…I love it. Perfect timing considering this will be the last weekend in my 40's. Turning 50 next Friday and wondering why I did not flaunt my sassy side (and 'things') more often! Marlien, you are just adorable and so are your posts! Thank you!

I am 51 and I do think you have to know when to move one and leave it to the younger set. I live in nyc so we can do these things a little linger but still....however I am ordering the red lace top when I sign off from this post.

Age is just a number. If you can pull it off, do so, if not, save it for another who can, or try a less daring version.
Marlien, you certainly pulled it off, look marvelous!
