the elusive t-shirt

Believe it or not, high on my list of things I'd like for Christmas is a simple white t-shirt. Except it's not all that simple: it has to fit perfectly, have a flattering neckline, look slightly distressed, feel comfortable, not be overly sheer or too thick and heavy--and go with everything I own. In other words, it is the type of thing my hubby could never pick out for me, unless I find it first and then publish it on LE CATCH of course. That being said, do any of you have a favorite? I'm studying these guys from Splendid, Helmut Lang, and Vince. If and when I find the perfect match, I will let you know, and of course buy multiples of it (and one in gray, too)!

I have loved the Gap crew tshirt for years. But my new favorite is Jame Perse white tshirt. I'm stupid crazy about it and his other shirts.

I "third" the Everlane recommendation. I just got my first white tee a couple of weeks ago and I'm hooked.

I'm gonna have to third the Everlane comment... SO SOFT. Unfortunately, it's slightly more sheer than I would like, so I'm (too!) on the prowl.

Everlane. They really live up to the hype and have the BEST customer service I've ever received! Plus-$15-20? Don't mind if I do...

LOVE James Perse tees, it's all about the v-neck for me. White, black and gray.

I too am always searching for the PERFECT white tee...like many, but LOVE my $12.00 Urban Outfitters (18 each or multiples for $12!) almost as much as my 90+ $ Rag & Bone Tee! Try one!

I have been meaning to try Everlane. Have you tried them? Super affordable & seem to have a great cut! My other favs are Splendid and Alternative Apparel.

It is odd how a basic item can beso difficult to perfect, I am exactly the same, got one perfect white tee from topshop boutique and it is the best one. I'm annoyed now that i didnt stock up!! XX

OK! Sounds like I need to try an Everlane (or three!), among others. Thank you all for your recommendations. SO helpful! xx M

Try the American Apparel Power Washed Tee (unisex). You have to size down, but I don't find the crew neck too high and it has this great worn in wash (and never pills). I own about ten now and just keep collecting. Now if they would make it in a deep v-neck my life would be complete.
