anthropologie earrings
$108, anthropologie
Although it still feels like summer in LA (it's going to be 94 degress today), I am looking at my calendar and realizing that cocktail party season is upon us. Of course, I will rely on some repeat performances (i.e., dresses that I've worn before), but snazz them up with a dazzling pair of earrings like these. Voila!

1. Alice + Olivia metallic lace dress, $495, netaporter.com
2. Anthropologie earrings, $108, anthropologie.com
3. Topshop beaded clutch, $76, topshop.com
4. Gucci ankle strap evening sandals, $1195, nordstrom.com

I *love* your style and *love* your blog. I've been lurking for a few months, but am finally leaving a comment because I am shamelessly asking for advice. I bought the gorgeous J Crew velvet toothpick jeans in navy that you wrote about a couple of weeks ago. Any ideas about how I could style them for something dressy-ish (e.g., date night! cocktail party!). But here's the challenge: I'm not teeny. I wear a size 14 and I'm 5'10". So many great clothes look better on tiny girls, but is there anything for me? And I completely understand if you can't or want to answer this -- I'll always be a big fan. DS

I'd wear those velvet jeans with pointy toe pumps and a billowy feminine white (or sequined or bold print) blouse--something loose-fitting to counterbalance the body-hugging pants--and some great drop earrings. Hope that helps!
