say yes

On Saturday, I threw on a new Simkhai dress, second to last pic, not because I had anywhere special to be (does a salon appointment on Montana Avenue count?), but because the sun said so. The dress was easy, a little structured, a little slinky, and it made an ordinary day feel touched by something else. That’s the energy I want to hold onto this summer: saying yes when it’s easier not to. Yes to slipping into something beautiful just because. Yes to last-minute dance party invites, swathed in sequins (below), to lounging around on steamy nights in silky nothings and denim shorts (above), to the kind of warmth that makes me want to stay longer than usual. All without spending a fortune, of course! What will help me get into the spirit (for under $250!): the beaded crochet Asos, the one-shouldered Arrange, this apron lace Abercrombie, and this tie-back English Factory. P.S. In the spirit of saying yes, I'd also green-light the resplendent raffia by Simkhai, too!
