ciao ciao

Only fitting that the first thing I throw on upon touchdown in Lake Como is a
ME + EM one-shoulder dress: the fit is fantastic, the vibe suitably posh, and (shhh, don’t tell anyone!), stretchy-easy comfortable. I’m planning to stock up on a few more do-it-all’s, thinking this, this, this this and this! You can be sure to see them on me very soon. Until then, Ciao!

cream and sugar

I kind of wouldn't mind throwing on my warm weather whites right now--despite the lack of warm weather. I'm loving Cos' set, above, and Doen's dress, below (with a chunky cardigan or oversized bomber right now?). Also good: this crochet Cult Gaia, these Staud flats, and this Khaite organza beauty.

tally ho

I'm putting some new spring staples to the test this week and I'm happy to report they're holding up quite successfully, as you can glean from these candid snaps here! Above, I'm wearing low-rise Madewell jeans, a sheer (sold out) Zara sweater with pointy-toe Toteme flats and The Row bag. The feather-light Rosewater blouse, below, with a detachable floral pin is going to keep giving throughout summer and same goes for the sequin-flecked Veronica Beard jacket, last pic. The Adina Reyter and Dorsey baubles never come off!

20/20 vision

My favorite jeans--that beautifully blended in with velvet banquette last night at The Twenty Two, above--are not only lavishly wearable but on sale at 24S, along with the most coveted Prada patent leather heels, below, at 20% off. Also noteworthy: the Khaite blouse that everyone wants, this pretty paisley print Zimmermann, these Lie Studio drop earrings, these Proenza Schouler loafers, and the Miu Miu card holder, below. See all the spring stunners on sale and use the code SPRING20 at check out here. (P.S. My sequined knit can be found here.)

This morning's world wide web deep-dive had me contemplating the fringed jacket and the fisherman sandal--both key pieces for spring, but both on the outer fringes of my style. The native New Yorker in me said hell, yes, while the Pacific Palisades mom tempered me. Here to report that New York always wins. :)

h&m high

H&M's just-launched spring collection takes its cues from coveted designers' high notes this season--think (sculptural) Khaite, (laser-cut) Valentino, (mini-length) Prada. And I'm here for it all! The above blouson-sleeved blouse is a dupe of Khaite's Quivo Top, and it's coming my way, along with the very Valentino eyelet top. Also so, so good: the drop-waist dress and oversized bomber jacket, below. Check out the new drop here!

big-time blouses

According to the Financial Times, blouses are back big-time. It cites designer Chemena Kamali's debut Fall 2024 collection for Chloe, anchored in spotlight-stealing blouses (prime example, above). Turns out the designer herself is a blouse obsessive, with between 600 to 700 in her personal collection, all organized by color. What makes the blouse compelling to me is that it's both a day and night thing--and all-around statement-making. While we're going to have to sit tight on the ethereal lace, above, we can go all in right now these beauties from And Other StoriesChloe (on sale), Khaite, Dorothee SchumacherCO, Staud and Anthropologie.

curve ball

On Saturday, I was smashing overheads in a pickle ball tournament. On Sunday, I threw my back out while cooking bacon for my children. Did not expect that! A more pleasant surprise today: The 75%-off (!) sale price of the above Interior blazer that I've been coveting for months (originally $1580, now $395). It's among one of the many surprisingly discounted finds at Shopbop today, including the Racquel Allegra boucle jacket and the For Love and Lemons lace dress, both below. Also noteworthy: this Zimmermann maxi and this Missoni one-piece. Surprise yourself here!

spring jackets

In my latest Substack published yesterday(!) I shared a bunch of new, spring-fresh styling ideas, specifically layering two jackets. If you want the short-cut to this trend, I recommend the denim/nylon Sacai bomber, above. And take a look at these inexpensive lightweight and made-for-layering jackets from Topshop, Mango, Mille (all pictured below)

super rosy

My Waze app has me destined for Palm Springs to watch the women's semi'-finals tonight, but somehow I ended up in Paris this morning, thanks to Lou Rose Gaillot's super scrollable Instagram feed. I'm inspired how she's transitioning into spring, freshly in head-to-toe white denim, above, and accenting her winter holdovers (leather, shearling) with new telltale signs of warm and sunny. Thinking I could try this myself with either this or this. Other prime takeaways include Diotima-like crochet tops, straw tote bags, cropped jackets and open weave knits

new blues

A few new denim trends are blooming this spring, and I've already picked a bunch. I just bought the cropped, wide-leg Madewell jeans, above, distinct with its fold-over waistline and the gaucho-like denim shorts, below, that can be worn with heels and a blazer, too. Options include the pair by Anthropologie, below, Citizens of Humanity (my fave) and H&M. Then there's the ripped jean; Credit The Row for bringing them back big-time! This distressed pair by Re/Done hits the mark for me, because it's not too torn up. And the year-round white jean gets an update thanks to Zara with high-waist, wide leg and raw-edge hem.

spring sparkle

On my way home from Palm Springs last week, I popped into the Prada outlet and found lots of signature sparkle and sheen--at mostly signature prices. I left empty-handed, only to be compensated this week by my discovery of Xu Zhi, a former JW Anderson intern, whose sequin-filled collection brings Prada-like pop but at outlet-like prices (under $300). I especially love the organza-lined sequin skirt, above. In the same vein there's Jacques Wei's satin slip dress, below, and the more Miu Miu-esque studded ($188) shirt by Citizens of Humanity and this bow-trimmed Lingua Franca cardigan. Lots of miu-miu-la saved!

doing the polka

marlien rentmeester

I've been on the hunt since early December, when at a holiday party I bumped into a friend  wearing the prettiest polka dot dress. It was nipped in at the waist, with long billowy sleeves and neck ties that loosely hung down. The effect: elegant yet effortless. I couldn't place its provenance and wondered whether it was vintage. "No," my friend clarified. "It's by ME + EM." When I returned home that night I endeavored to buy the dress, but, alas, it was sold out. Since then, I’ve been stalking ME +EM for dresses that similarly effect polished but not precious, and I recently scored with the print, lace-trimmed skirt-and-blouse team and gathered-sleeve white dress, both of which can work on holidays abroad or at out and about at home, along with this exact-fit of the polka dot pretty but in solid black (woo hoo)! Wouldn’t mind adding a few more–this and this–to my new spring line-up, too. This post is in paid partnership with ME + EM.

spring stars

And the award goes to Shopbop today, for buffering our early morning alarms with a massive 20%-off sale, featuring newly-launched spring stars! As in thousands of options, all so good and understandably selling fast! There's the oversized Ganni jacket, this outfit-making Frame belt, these staple Loeffler Randall ballet flats, this 3.1 Phillip Lim dress, the scalloped Citizens of Humanity blouse, below and the Bembien woven bucket bag ($200). Also, who needs jeans? Seriously, who doesn't (at 20% off)? I love these by Re/Done, Closed and Mother. The swimwear selection is also staggering--just in time for spring break. Check it all out here!
