the new jean jacket

The jean jacket has long been a springtime staple, but this season's renewal fits more an oversized button-down shirt, and models Tylynn Nyuyen and Leia Sfez, pictured here, show exactly how to pull it off: with more denim, of course! I like these iterations from Closed Official (above and below), Tibi, APC, and Tory Burch.

on the sidelines

Leave it to me to shop on the sidelines of my son's volleyball game. I couldn't help myself because I discovered not only one but TWO pairs of must-have jeans thanks to a well-dressed friend. Let me further explain (read: justify my impulse buying) by disclosing that I am very discriminating when it comes to jeans as they need to be many things all at once: flattering, comfortable, versatile and polished. The best jeans in my wardrobe are the jeans I want to live in, ones that rival the ease of sweatpants! The high-waist, wide-leg pair by Zara, above, meets my exacting criteria--as well as the opinion of my friend/fellow volleyball mom, who has them in every color they come in, including black and this new hard-working khaki color. The other must-have pair? These by AGOLDE, which I  just bought and wore out for the first time yesterday and scored a zillion compliments! The non-stretch denim lends a structured fit and the ankle length is day to night chic! I promise you: they're dream jeans!

hot studs

Valentino's signature Roman Stud sandal is getting a summertime-update with laid-back, wear-with-everything PVC straps, and I'm all for it! I'll be wearing them with the $129 sequin crochet H&M dress, below, along with this extra cool denim dress, this everyday-ready Theory mini and this pleated Polo Ralph Lauren skirt!

solid style

My overflowing bikini drawer would have you believe I am a swimwear savant, but the truth is I divine all my warm-weather-clothing wisdom from my Honolulu (read: bathing suit Mecca!) based friend Kate. For summer, she's going with one-piece swimsuits with matching cover-ups. Same goes for me, naturally! I just snapped up the sheer pink dress, below, for $150, and I'm also eyeing these solid statements from Evarae (above), JacquemusHunza G, Eberjey, Good American, Marysia, and Matteau.

new finds

In case you're looking for a striking cover-up that could be worn way off the beach, I highly recommend the And Other Stories dress, above. Within minutes of wearing this new dress, I knew I had made the right choice, as multiple compliments reassured me the flowy silhouette was flattering and the color striking. (All good to know because I hadn't even looked in the mirror to vouch for myself before leaving the house!) Thanks to my friend Melissa, I also discovered the beyond chic Kule look, below, comprised of a do-it-all striped blouse and silk pareo-turned-skirt, also highly versatile! Plus, extra cool raffia from Zara and Cos for endless summer days!

the khaki skirt

Spring's secret weapon is the khaki skirt, which, if executed properly, skews less preppy, more polished. I, for one, appreciate its unexpectedness, along with its hard-working versatility. J.Crew's Olympia Gayot wears it to perfection (find it here), but these from Vince, Zara, and Mango, are also amazing. P.S. I like the idea of this statement pleated trench--to update any outfit!

pearls of wisdom

Along with my bikinis and pareos, I'll be packing some pearls for spring break. Big and bold ones that look modern (not matronly), unexpected and fun, as pictured above, or like these from Jennifer Behr, Maison Irem, Alexa Leigh and Sydney Evan. I also love the pre-layered Justine Clenquet, below.

spring in my step

Stylish New Yorkers springing ahead in their newest skin-baring shoes are inspiring me to follow in their footsteps--along with 55 degree-proof sheer tights (I just bought these for $25 but these also good!). As for the shoes, I love Leandra Cohen's forever-elegant sandals by The Row, below, and the pointy-toe Toteme slingback, above. Plus these by Miu Miu and Zara.

springing with sara

If there ever was an Instagram life I wanted to lead, it would be that of Paris-based Italian model Sara Ramen, who seemingly whips up gorgeous fig galettes with her eyes closed, flits between the Amalfi Coast, Paris and Australia, and wears nothing but the most desirable clothes. Fortunately for me, I can partake in her enviable wardrobe with an assist from Bergdorf Goodman, which is currently offering a slew of spring lovelies, many Sara-sanctioned at 25% off, including the Sir top, above, along with this stunning pearl-studded Alice & Olivia jacket, these Khaite jeans, this Ulla Johnson mini, this Agua by Agua Bendita dress. Shop the sale here!

molto muccia

This morning I scoured The Outnet's just-in sale stash of Prada and Miu Miu with an incredulous grin, floored by all the crazy good statement offerings, such as the above embellished trench, which I scored at 60% off! Also utterly compelling: the cashmere turtleneck, below, this cute phone case, this Miu Miu waxed cape, this striped cashmere knit, this graphic scarf, and this oversized denim jacket!

Interrupting your Sunday because this pretty is poised to sell out pronto! Score here.

big on denim

I'm seriously thinking that all I need for spring is an oversized denim jacket. Because it's something I can wear both inside and outside, layer in uptown to downtown ways, and, perhaps, most importantly, it will allow me to think less about what I'm wearing underneath! Especially if it's an investment piece! I love the Prada's button-down, above, pinched from the men's department. I also adore these stunners by Khaite, Loewe, and Anine Bing.

goop girls

The rain let up last night for just enough time for me to whip out a leg-baring, spring-fresh dress for dinner with Goop and friends, including the strapless and sequined GP, herself, the ever-inspiring Maria Shriver and Beauty Counter founder (and unwavering friend) Gregg Renfrew, pictured above. Over fresh-picked vegetables (naturally!) and epic cheese boards, we chatted about the power of friendships, gratitude for growing old, and saying yes more often! I also discovered the dexterity of these party-ready Prada heels, these effortlessly chic Nanushka leather pants, and this throw-and-go (hang with Gwyneth) denim jacket, thanks to the other cool guests in attendance!

long on denim

Spring is calling for a new addition to my perpetually-growing arsenal of denim: a long jean skirt. Admittedly, this silhouette is harder to pull off than a pair of straight-leg indigos, but the style perks are far more glam. The key to styling this skirt is to keep things simple and streamlined on top, as demonstrated in these snaps. I like these iterations from Frame, Sea New York, Mother and Made in Tomboy.

spring forward

LA's cool and cloudy weather is not obscuring my warm-and-sunny wardrobe vision--and I can thank Shopbop's spring sale for that! Seriously, everything I need (fresh-cut jeans!) and them some (sexy swimsuits!) for next season is 20% off through March 15. Other desirables: these white Khaite jeans, this print Charina Sarte dress, this one-shouldered Ulla Johnson, this Staud bucket bag, this Sablyn cashmere sweater-meets-jacket, and this AGOLDE leather pants. Pounce on it all here!

french sights

Never have I ever wanted to look more like a French girl, inspired by all the looks out and about in Paris this past week. The Nanushka black leather pants, above, with sheer tights and white pumps, above, the cinched-waist denim jackets (this and this), the pearls and pointy-toe kitten heels from Miu Miu (fifth pic down), the updated barn jackets... J'adore toute!
