lounge around

Tis the season to dress up! I'm even cranking up my comfy lounge-wear (read: former lockdown looks) along the lines of the above from The Reformation. Amazing what a good blazer and boots can do for you, right? I also love these versatile and gift-perfect knit sets from Splendid, English Factory, Cos, and J.Crew.

filippa hagg

I woke up this Monday morning still feeling sloth-like from Thanksgiving's tryptophan but then, fortunately, my Instagram feed served up an invigorating remedy in the form of Filippa Hagg's inspirational on-the-go, coffee-in-hand style! The Paris-based creative director defines her distinctly sleek look as "Frandinavian," a mix of French-chic signatures and bold Scandinavian statement pieces. Her masterfully-curated combo is exactly what my carpe-diem wardrobe needs, starting with the Toteme scarf jacket, above, and the luxe shearling toggle jacket, below (this one similar and less $)*, the oversize zip-up sweater (below), classic black Prada loafers,  Frankie Shop's faux leather trench coat, Converse high-tops, and Toteme's side-slit tunic sweater (last pic).

*P.S. The Cyber Monday sale at Shopbop is pretty epic. Just saying...

friday feels

For me, Black Friday is the day I can justify buying things impulsively. Because they're on crazy sale! Hence the purchase of this statement Hunza G bikini, which should fit once I metabolize all of last night's pumpkin pie! I'm also about to pull the trigger on this Creme de la Mer moisturizer (almost never on sale!) and this Sea patchwork jacket.

best of both worlds

You can't tell from this picture but I am actually wearing denim shorts with this pretty oversized turtleneck. I love this best-of-both-worlds kind of outfit (thank you, LA!), and what's more, the new turtleneck was just snapped up at Banana Republic Factory, where all their must-wear-this-minute gems are 60% off through 11/27. Plus, get an extra 15% off your purchase! For example, I also discovered this under $100 vegan shearling lined coat, inspired by Carolyn Murphy, below! Plus, this sherpa shacket, this long teddy coat, this knit coat, and this ribbed hoodie. Sponsored by Banana Republic Factory. LTK #ad

sale away

Can't stop, won't stop sale shopping! I think I'm compensating for all the Covid clothes still stuck in my everyday rotation. I'm pressing wardrobe refresh with the Sea New York  blouse, above, on sale. Other scores gleaned from the Thanksgiving sales: this Cult Gaia dress, these Isabel Marant Etoile socks (great stocking stuffer, BTW), these super versatile wide-leg leather trousers by Rohe and this Something Navy shearling coat, below. If money grew on trees, I'd also snap up this hooded Love Shack Fancy sweater, these perfectly-cut Slvrlake jeans, these Jimmy Choo suede ankle boots, and this statement Sandro coatigan! Happy Thanksgiving!

gobble good

Not only is it the Gobbler Bowl today at my son's school, the annual and always exciting pre-Thanksgiving flag football game, but it's also the day when Net-a-Porter and Shopbop preempt Black Friday with their epic sales, in which I gobble up gifts for all my peeps (this, this and this)--and, okay, a few for myself, starting with the 40%-percent-off Ulla Johnson sweater, above. (P.S. If you are a fan of Ulla Johnson, you must check out sale situation at Neiman Marcus, featuring the latest and greatest styles for less!) I'm also seriously tempted to indulge myself at My Theresa, offering primo designer pieces at super discounts, like this gorgeous forever knit from The Row, this Dolce & Gabanna print dress and these classic Gianvito Rossi boots. Gobble, gobble!

well red

There I was minding my own business, running up the West Side Highway the other day, sweat dripping down my face, when my twin sister's best friend stopped me in my tracks. She was leisurely strolling downtown--and decked-out chic! There was her impeccable trench coat! The most flattering  wide-leg jeans! The new amazing Gucci bag, below! And the denouement: a pair of red patent leather Prada sandals! They were unpredictable (particularly for this time of year) and yet so thoroughly spot-on. And perfectly, strikingly red! I literally ran home to find my own pair and succeeded at Farfetch. Plus, I discovered all kinds other random goodies there on sale like this epic Nanushka jacket, this Missoni bikini, and this Polo Ralph Lauren checked sweater!

california cool

I'm loving how LA girls are pairing this season's knit dresses with high-knee boots. The look is polished yet laid back-Cali--one I could pull it off in NYC or anywhere else for that matter. So, I looked around some exceptionally good dresses and found these flattering options from Glamorous, Paige, Lioness, Proenza Schouler and Loulou Studio. And I got these easy-on-the-wallet pair of boots to go with!

notable knits

Seems like the universe really wants me to add to my sweater stock, because I keep stumbling across so many excellent options at excellent prices! A few options I want to share with you include the Mango bandana knit, above, with the cute detachable scarf, the ribbed H&M, below, this cropped Sokie turtleneck, this Free People tunic sweater, and this cut-out Astr the Label.

go-to glasses

Jen Wonders style

Okay, so Bottega Veneta's newest sunglasses are like Celine's must-have cat-eyes, and the coolest girls I know are all wearing them! Translation: I am going to rotate them into my non-stop Ray-Ban Wayfarers wearing! I prefer the black version but Jen Wonders, pictured here, makes a compelling argument for white!

dressed and ready

Last week had me social butterflying more than I have in ages! There was Hermes' Grand Soir, staged at Frank Sinatra's former home in Chatsworth, a catch-up lunch with a British friend at The Draycott, a vegan sit-down charity dinner in Brentwood, a Topanga Canyon barbecue, and on and on. Thankfully, my new dresses were ready and waiting! Among them, the Reformation, above, along with these from Self-Portrait (poised to be on the holiday party circuit), Skin (going on future trips to Hawaii, for sure!),  and Jonathan Simkhai (already stolen by my sis!). Also on my new out-and-about agenda: my new favorite fragrance Byredo's Gypsy Water, Beauty Counter's mascara (already on Black Friday sale!), which makes my eyelashes look long and robust (which, I assure you, they are not!), outfit-punctuating jewelry by Maison Mayle (pics taken by my twin!) and Thatch, plus these sparkly kitten heels. Party season has begun!

coco's crew

In Maine several weeks ago, my twin sister photographed J.Crew's fall collection, the first from head of women’s design Olympia Gayot, debuting now. Not only is the beautiful picture, above, from the campaign going to be hanging on my office wall, but I'll be wearing the featured clothes, as well! I'm telling you the flattering cut of the year-round white boyfriend jeans is spot-on, and, you know, I've never met a stripe I didn't like. Also amazing: this shawl collar puffer jacket that's nicely nipped in at the waist (no Michelin man here!), this cut-out Liberty print dress, and this updated cable knit sweater. See all the pretty pics--and fall pieces--here!

out and about

Have you seen Zara's latest outerwear drop? It's vibrant and perky and fun--everything that winter is sometimes not! I especially love the 2-in-1 floral print puffer, above, with its removable sleeves (so it's also a vest!), the crochet pullover, the made-fore-layering cropped vest and the floral leggings for. All totally suitable/exceptional for NYC's winter outdoor dining or Cloud Nine's champagne swilling!

the amazing race

My twin sister has always been a better (faster, stronger, more dedicated) runner than me--but I tend to sport better running clothes. So, there! (I often get an assist from this robust yet discounted source!). But then she one-upped me the other day, turning up in the latest super cute Staud x New Balance collaboration, pictured here. Adding insult to injury, most of the stuff she wore had already sold out! However, I did scrounge up the cute puffer vest, above, to wear from track to town, along with the cool fleece pullover, below. Plus, I discovered Girlfriend Collective, a responsibly-made, well-priced, minimalist-inclined line of activewear, which will definitely keep me ahead of my sis in the style race!

adorable adenorah

Paris-based creative director Anne-Laure Mais's interpretation of fall casual boasts a distinctly  French-chic accent. Which I'd like to adopt! Thankfully, her style is pretty easy to emulate with these anchor pieces: a print puffer jacket (like the Perfect Moment, above, this Rag & Bone and this Tory Burch); cropped Levi's jeans; a cute faux fur-lined Claude Pierlot vest (or this), and slightly oversized knits (this, this and this).

twinning

It must be our identical DNA that causes my twin sister and I to buy the same clothing when we are on opposite coasts! Our most recent joint purchase: the pretty Ulla Johnson puff-sleeve (and great necklace-framing) blouse, above, now on sale at Shopbop! Clearly, it's versatile, able to work LA days and NYC nights! And so are these other amazing sale finds, twin-approved, of course, from Brochu Walker, Jonathan Simkhai, byTiMo, Borgo de Nor, and Frame Denim. Check out the situation for yourself here

fancy this

My local coffee shop is now serving Peppermint Lattes. Read: it's officially that holly-jolly-crazytime of year! A funny viral Instagram post I saw succinctly sums up things like this:

November 1-21 = Christmas

November 22 = Thanksgiving

November 23-December 25 = Christmas

If you're ready to shop for the holidays, I recommend hitting up Banana Republic's Flights of Fancy sale, featuring 40% off purchase and free 2-3 day shipping on orders $175+ for all kinds of goodies. I'd start in the denim department where I just bought myself a pair of truly excellent jeans, pictured above--perfect stretch, length, flattering fit, no joke, along with this luxe-looking fleece sweatshirt, this super versatile sweater hoodie and this striped sweater! Also spot on: this cable knit sweater, this duster cardigan, and this fitted ribbed tank. This post is sponsored by Banana Republic. LTK #ad #theNewBRLook

knits to know

'Tis the season of epic knitwear! Among the brands crushing sweater weather is Rag & Bone with the Fair Isle turtleneck, above (I also love this printed puffer!) and Andersson Bell, below, (previously sold out on Le Catch and now re-stocked here), with a hoodie and all. Also distinctly cool are these by Doen, Something Navy, Zara, and Sea New York. Happy Friday!

hollie and merry

It's been a while since I've bundled up for the cold, but helping me get back into the chilly swing of things is Amsterdam-based Hollie Mercedes, a seasoned master of wintry-dressing arts. Her unerring strategy: bright, bold knits, quilted jackets and funky, unexpected accessories. Among my favorites: this wool knitted And Other Stories hood, these vibrant oversized turtlenecks by Balenciaga (below), ZaraLine & Dot and Free People, this throw-over-everything quilted jacket from The Frankie Shop, pictured, this extra large (extra cozy) Zara scarf, this Last made-for-layering dickie and these balaclavas by Leandra Medine Cohen x Closed Denim and Kule.
