green day

I have some new family members I'd like you to meet! They like the sun as much as I do, are refreshingly low maintenance and can light up a room just like that! Meet my plants from Leon & George, a curated plant and pot delivery service that offers bonus lifetime plant support--key for my nascent green thumb! I'm also sprucing things up around the house with this, this and this, and, oh, this eye-candy, unusually fragrant (Juniper!) Loewe candle is next-level good.

on target

Not only does it help to have the most gifted mindfulness and meditation guide, intuitive healer, and certified herbalist in my inner circle (thank you, Cyia Batten!), but it's also beneficial that she doles out style tips to me, too! Her latest share: Who What Wear's latest collection, which dabbles in Ulla Johnson boho-chic (this, this and this), everyday denim (above) and the most stylish stripes. Amen!

P.S. Cyia Batten is an LA-based wellness pro and intuitive healer who provides support in self-empowerment and stress reduction! A true life-saver! She does virtual sessions, too!

linked jeans

Heads-up: All kinds of denim desirables are on sale at Shopbop right now, along with other spring goodies! Look out for super wearable jean skirts (like this and this), plus the most flattering jeans from Boyish, Mother, Citizens of Humanity, and Slvrlake. And to go with them: this sexy Nanushka sweater, this chambray Amo shirt, and this Alice + Olivia striped pullover!

print pants

In case you need some help navigating this season's printed pants trend, take a look at Selma Kaci's Instagram feed. The Paris-based creative director pulls it off printastically--and then some! Her strategy is anchored in go-big prints and mixing and matching, then grounding it all in norm-core sneakers and easy, relaxed silhouettes. I like! I'd like to take a cue from her play book with these patterns from The Reformation, Zara, One Teaspoon, Derek Lam 10 Crosby, Alaia, and Faithfull the Brand.

gucci goo

I'm not above pilfering the kids' department for a good find. Case in point: these fun mini Gucci bags, above and below, that are significantly less expensive than their adult counterparts!

the new jean skirt

These snaps convinced me I need a slim-fitting denim skirt, stat! One that hugs the curves more--read: sexier! Perfect for summer, and it's an easy, casual substitute for jeans or shorts, but will come off as more polished and pretty! I'm talking these by Jen7, Isabel Marant, Citizens of Humanity, Khaite, and Saint Laurent.

on the bead

I love this cute, summer-ready combo of bulky gold and bright beaded necklaces--and managed to find a ready-to-go set from Maison Irem and H&M. Or you can just pile them on from Dannijo, Lisa Statt, Brinker and Eliza, and Sant Angelo. The amazing colorful beaded necklace, below, is by Carolina Bucci, but I think this one from Roxanne Assoulin will work just as well with my own pendants!

the statement skirt

Serious statement skirts are taking over the streets this spring, and it's easy to see why: they simplify getting dressed. A good one carries an outfit, which is to say, you won't need much else. Here are some options I'm coveting from Red Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Xirena, H&M, La Double J, Paul & Joe, Mango, below.

more dresses!

Okay, so there's only so many inexpensive--but great!--dresses I can hoard. But still, it doesn't hurt to simply look at more! Especially as I have been inundated lately with crazy good under-$200 options. Want a peek? Here's a mack daddy data dump from Rolla's, Scotch & Soda, Anthropologie (above), Conditions Apply, Carolina K, Alex Mill, English Factory and River Island, below. P.S. Today is the last day to indulge in Shopbop's sale, stocked with summer-ready standouts! Get the discount code here.

blooming bright

Frills, flowers, flamboyance--welcome to my springy state of mind! I'm cultivating it with pretty, romantic tops in my closet like the Love Shack Fancy, above, and aiming for more fun and flair with this similar-looking By Timo, this Alice & Olivia, and this Scotch and Soda. H&M is also boosting my sunny mood with its latest drop of flowy and bright caftans, below. Check them all out here!

wanderlusting

Dallas-based Nasiba Adilova's lock-down life looks more like my wildest jet-set dreams! Over the last year, she's been living with her family in far-off places from the Maldives to the Swiss Mountains--and I've been tagging along for the ride via Instagram, taking in the exotic scenery and sartorial splendor. Clearly, she resides in a different tax bracket than me, but she affords lots of style inspo! I could go next level in her kind of dressing with the now on sale Love Shack Fancy (second to last pic), bedroom-to-beach-to-street Loretta Caponi (last pic), Brock and Hunza G

breton basics

Breton tees are back (again) big time--but a bit different looking this go-around: silhouettes are slimmer and more streamlined, sleeves are three-quarter and stripes are anything but standard! I'll be lining up in these by La Ligne (above), Kule, J.Crew, and Rosetta Getty.

Mother's Day came early this year, ushered in by new MAR pendant necklace, designed by LA-based designer Ariel Gordon. (She's the talent behind the other darlings strung around my neck, too!) For my fellow mommas and friends, she's offering 15% off with the code Marlien15! Like how I'm showing off my must-have pinstripes, too?

pin up

In case there's any confusion, you definitely, without a doubt, no-questions-asked need a new pinstriped shirt. It has to be a little oversized (but not too much, as if you borrowed it from a guy) and the stripes should be subtle (not bold--so last year!). Most importantly, it must possess inherent unbuttoned-down-to-there sexiness! Sounds like a tall order, but don't worry, I got you! Check out these just-right options from Citizens of Humanity, Victoria Beckham, Alex Mill, River Island, Mango, and Reliquia (below). P.S. I think I NEED the vintage New Balance sneakers, above, too!

set sale

This week is getting off on the right foot thanks to Shopbop's Style Event, featuring spring's newest and most coveted looks at up to 25% off! After enduring one crazzzzy long winter, I am more eager than ever to breeze around in fresh, out-and-about pieces, like the Ulla Johnson dress, above, this feminine Alice & Olivia blouse, these seriously perfect pull-on Vince shorts, these do-it-all Sam Edelman ballet slippers, this alluring one-shoulder Nanushka sweater, these Mother frayed ankle-length jeans, and this print Sea top. Get the discount code here!

blanket statement

Cute Mother's Day gift alert! One-of-kind customizable throw blankets for $78 bucks! You know I can't resist anything that has my name on it! Find 'em here!

short shorts

Yep, denim shorts are still a must for this coming warm-weather season, however, this time around they're super short, high-waisted and distressed. Got that? I've identified the best options currently in the market, as I am in desperate need of a pair (or two!). They are by Levi's, below, Zara, above, Citizens of Humanity, and 7 For All Mankind.

cap rate

Different times call for different routines, hence I'll be swapping out my usual straw hat for one that's a little more fun and unique! One that will cap off my look with a punctuation mark,  like the statement-making Gucci denim bucket hat, above, or the floral Free People, below. Or these from Hat Attack, Loeffler Randall, and Chloe!

finders keepers

Hard to believe this snap was taken almost two years ago, because the clothes we're wearing still look very much up to date today! Hence: keepers in my book! I received a ton of DM's yesterday inquiring about the provenance of Coco's white blouse, above. It is by Rebecca Taylor and long sold out, but I found similar stunners from Rixo, Intermix, Anthropologie (or this) and Jonathan Simkhai. All wardrobe stalwarts!

follow suit

Lately, my Hawaiian girlfriends--A.K.A., my favorite swimwear pros--have been working bodysuit-like one-pieces that go from surf breaks to supermarket shopping and everywhere in between. These flattering yet versatile pieces work with their denim cut-offs, skirts and under dresses. Their outfits could not be easier--and yet come off so stylish too! Their go-to suits come from Mai, The Reformation, Susanna Monaco, Silvia Tcherassi, Anine Bing, LNA, and Mango, above.

in living color

Remember last year when it seemed like everyone was wearing head-to-toe griege? This season, those muted tones have given way to more vibrant, uplifting shades and eye-popping prints--which makes me happy! I'd like to color up my wardrobe in these fun new pieces from Mango, above, Farm Rio, below, J.Crew, Rixo, Sea, Celia B., and Sika.

I am the proud owner of too-many but much-loved inexpensive dresses. Which I suspect you know well by now!
