shopbopping

I jumped the gun and bought my first new super cute spring bag yesterday--Clare V's Pot de Miel, above. Lucky for you, it's available today at a discount, thanks to Shopbop's sale. (Spend $200+, get 15% off, spend $500, get 20% off, spend $800, get 25% off!)  Other great spring pieces I'd like to get my paws on include this Backstage one-shoulder dress, this Ulla Johnson statement blouse, this floral Alexis mini, these pom pom-trimmed Joie sandals, these spring-perfect Re/Done faded jeans, and this pretty Rhode Resort dress. Check it all out here.

puffed up

On the snowy slopes of the Sierra last week, I spotted numerous puffer jackets equally suitable for chic city streets sans skis. Some that would stand up to the cold and camera flashes include these by Mango, Ganni, Hilfiger Collection (below), Perfect Moment, Asos (this one too!) and Topshop.

pretty in prints

H&M made my Friyay with this new pretty print dress, which I plan on busting out as soon as this LA cold spell splits! I also snapped up the shirt version to wear with everything from jeans to sharp black trousers to bikinis!

winter sale-ing

The stuff that street style stars are made of are up for (discounted!) grabs at Nordstrom right now, through February 25. I'm talking major Burberry statements, similar to the coat, above, along with this sweater and this turtleneck. Also noteworthy: these perfect Frame jeans (60% off!), this vacay-ready Sam Edelman straw tote, these pretty Alexandre Birman sandals, this everyday-chic Rebecca Minkoff striped sweater, and this one-shoulder-chic Robert Rodriguez top. Check it all out here.

t-shirts and blazers

I love how Lauren Santo Domingo, above at London Fashion Week, adapts her American flair (casual t-shirt) to English prim and proper (sharp blazer). It's a winning combination, and others are succeeding at it, too (below). Back on this side of the pond, I'd like to execute with these tees by Madeworn, Paradised, Pam & Gela, and Courreges, along with these polished blazers by Ganni, Isabel Marant, Tibi, and Topshop.

cool culottes

An al fresco dinner at Nobu in Malibu the other night called for something cool, more sophisticated than jeans and yet also warm. Enter these patent leather culottes that would not only nail Nobu but the office as well. And the price is pretty good, too!

the new jeans

While animal prints, bold hues, and florals dominated New York's Fall 2018 runways, a new must-have pair of jeans ruled the streets. Their distinct (90's-inspired) trademarks include a straight-leg fit, shoe-grazing length, and faded wash. I especially like these versions from Citizens of Humanity, Acne Studios, Rag & Bone, Khaite, Re/Done, Goldsign and Alexa Chung.

green queen

The fashion biz is working hard to make itself more sustainable, and I am always excited when I hear about new initiatives, big or small. Today's news is particularly cool as it comes from my friend Mary Alice Haney, who just launched her Green label. The concept is to take all the leftover luxe fabric from her line's prior bestselling designs and re-cut it into new, right-this-minute silhouettes, all done in LA, so there is no overseas shipping/carbon footprint required. She's making limited batches for now, and I'm getting one before they're gone!

winter maxis

The maxi dress, typically regarded as a warm weather staple, is going to new heights this winter. Spotted all over the streets of New York during Fashion Week, this effortless, feminine silhouette proves it's now a year-round go-to--and I'm ready to slip in right this minute with boots (or sneakers) and a warm topper, and later with toe-baring sandals and a ponytail. The maxis I'd max out season after season include these by Rebecca Minkoff, Tibi, French Connection, Zimmermann, Mango, Beaufille, ALC, and Valentino.

white wow

Looks like the biggest street style star of New York Fashion Week is the wide-leg white pant! Any hesitation about wearing white trousers in winter should be assuaged by these pics, which also nicely demonstrate how to wear them. (Right now with cold weather staples like boots and chunky layers.) The other perk to these pants is that we can wear them straight into summer--and look a little sharper than we would otherwise with white jeans. Particularly impressive are these styles by Sea, Emerson Thorpe, Chloe, Simon Miller, The Row, and Cords (last pic).

from the heart

I already received my first Valentines Day gift--this cute and festive assortment of monogrammed napkins, placements, plates and glasses from A2B Table--and now I'm officially in the loving spirit! This flirty heart print dress would be perfect for a Valentine's (and Galentine's!) Day date--and beyond. Other great ways to show the love: these Anne Sisteron diamond heart earrings, this silk Only Hearts slip, these bow-trimmed satin J.Crew slides, and this decadent Gucci clutch.

pretty pleats

One of next spring's best silhouettes is the pleated skirt--and it's one I can easily/happily wear now. I'm going to team it with more tomboyish (read: unexpected) pieces to make it look less precious and more fresh--think hoodies like this and this and oversized sweaters such as this one and this one. Skirts I love include these by Kenzo, Tory Burch, Haute Hippie, Gucci, and Asos.
