holiday glow

Goop
$60
When my sister-in-law told me I looked refreshed and glowing on Christmas Eve--after wrapping presents till the wee hours the night before, over-fulfilling my Champagne quota for days on end, and running ragged for several weeks--I was both flattered and shocked. The only thing I could chalk it up to is something new to my daily routine: this Goop Glow supplement, which evidently seems to be working! It's chock full of magnesium, grape-seed proanthocyanidins, vitamins C and E, and CoQ10, plus critical carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin. Other things lifting my spirits (and glow) today: these crazy sales at Nordstrom, Shopbop, Matches and Net-a-Porter

party ready

Okay, since I've failed to get ready for Christmas on time, I'm going to try to nail my New Year's Eve-ready look! Fortunately, tons of festive dresses are on super (read: post-Christmas) sale, including the lace Opening Ceremony, above (under $250, no less!). Also part-worthy: these head-turners by Halston HeritageJonathan Simkhai, Protagonist, Altuzarra, Dolce & Gabbana, CeCe and Asos (it's $15!). Merry Christmas!

bomb's away

My youngest child embarked on a father-son ski trip a few days ago. When we said our goodbyes, he was dressed in fluffy, fleece jacket and looked so cute. I hugged him and asked if he was sure he wanted to go. He withdrew from our cuddle and looked at me and replied with tears streaming down his eyes, "I'm going no matter what." And just like that he turned away and left the house with his dad. I think this may have something to do with my hankering for the cute fluffy bomber jacket, above, along with the fact, that I think it would look super cozy and stylish under a pea coat!

marmy jacket

You know how much I love an army jacket, and this fall's MAR x Clare V. jacket was quite a hit! So in the spirit of every-season-deserves-a-(M)ARMY, I teamed up with my girls at Goop, to deliver one that's truly next level! A polished, enduringly stylish topper that will make any outfit look "done." It comes with a removable faux fur stole (that can punctuate a holiday cocktail dress like nothing else, BTW) and cuffs, so that it can be worn year-round. It's basically a three-in-one, one-size-fits-all jacket that's pretty genius. And it's limited edition, so if you want one, better make a beeline here

festive finds

Obviously, I love shopping, but not so much holiday shopping. Because I know what I want under the tree, but not necessarily what everyone else wants. So now, once again the pressure is on, and I thought I'd use this post to get a jump-start on my hunt for perfect people-pleasing presents that also cost under $100! Let's start with the cute earrings, above; Good Vibes are what we all want for the holidays, right?! Other no-fail gifts: this Kayu vacay-ready mini tote, this stocking stuffer Coqui Coqui shampoo set, these J.Crew pajamas, this table-making decanter, this Smythson leather agenda, these soothing eye masks from Shiseido, and this striped Mark and Graham wine bottle carrier. Let me know if you have any good ideas too!

party week

This week has me holiday partying hard, with back-to-back soirees (and lunches!). 'Tis the season! I'd love to hit the circuit in this easy-to-throw-on yet high-impact (under $200!) sequin skirt, above,  along with these fa-la-la-la dresses by H&M, Topshop, Saloni, Paskal, and Marchesa Notte.

hot knits

A chunky sweater and jeans don't necessarily add up to sexy, but throw in a pair of feminine slingbacks and the cold weather look heats up hot! Proof, above. It all starts with the right sweater though (the hair tuck helps, too!), one that makes a distinct statement and is not too oversized, like these by Anya Hindmarch (pictured, on sale!), Vince, Ganni, Topshop, Co, The Reformation and J.Crew.

purr-fect

I want to get my paws on this faux fur leopard print jacket! Love the idea of layering it underneath a pea coat or an oversized army jacket for extra warmth.

2. Ganni leopard print fau fur jacket, $395, netaporter.com
3. MiH jeans, $240, netaporter.com

going backwards

My latest (and secret) styling trick is to wear things backwards. It sounds crazy, I know, but not only have I found new life in old clothes by doing this but I've doubled the wearability of newer pieces, too. Take for instance the beaded Dries Van Noten blouse, above, which looks way sexier turned around, and day-worthy, to boot. (P.S. Don't you love that I match my son's skateboard?) My most recent feat was wearing this new Asos dress backwards to a holiday party over the weekend. I also tucked the long sleeve inside the dress to make it symmetrical on top. It got rave reviews!

big apple bound

I'm heading to New York later next week and already bracing myself for the cold, un-LA-like weather. To be both warm and stylish, I'd like to take a cue from my friend fashion consultant and recent NY transplant Ramya Giangola and pack a sharp blazer that works both uptown and downtown, like her Rosie Assoulin (on sale!), above. I'm eyeing this lookalike from J.Crew. I would also like to pack these A.P.C corduroy trousers, this simply classic bell-sleeved sweater, this forever-chic Givenchy pea coat (40% off!), and these warm (and running around-friendly) Sam Edelman boots.
