everyday treats

I don't normally dress up for Halloween but this year I signed up for two costumes: Cleopatra, which I donned over the weekend (see pic here!) and Chic Devil, composed of a (stylish) red lace dress, red coat and horns. I have to admit: dressing up has been more fun than I previously thought, and it's actually inspired me--along with these pics here--to add more sparkly (surprise!) drama to my everyday uniform. I plan to go for it right now with this season's big and blingy earrings, set to transform any old outfit. Loving these by Annie Costello Brown, Anne Sisteron, Rosantica, Oscar de la Renta, Stella + Ruby, and Mango (similar to pic below). Happy Halloween!

sweater weather

Fall arrived overnight in LA. Yesterday morning I was in a bikini. Today, I'm wrapped up in a cozy sweater and jeans. Thus, the timing of this sweater find is perfect. The lace-up sleeves make it sexy and statement-y, and its price can't be beat. I also wouldn't mind staying warm in these standout knits by Ella Moss, Ganni, Pixie Market, Loewe, J.Crew and Tory Burch.

shiny shoes

My friend's no-fail, go-to party shoes are vintage sequin boots, but this season, she has reason to bust them out on a regular, everyday basis. That's because others are wanting to join this trendy sparklefest, thanks to all the glittery outfit-making options on offer. Chanel's boots and loafers are a cult favorite, but these by Madewell, J.Crew, Golden Goose, and Jimmy Choo are also fun.

travel guide

Here I am in Conde Nast Traveler's November issue, just out on news stands now! (The snap, above, was taken by my mom and texted to me!) In the article, which you can read here, I highlight my packing strategies (Russian Doll method: bag within a bag within a bag--hence lots of options on the ground), what's in my dopp kit (this, this, this and this), and plane-friendly layers that go the extra mile, like these by Harvey Faircloth (above),  Mango, and J.Crew. Plus, shopping tips!

panting

You all know about my current dress-only routine, but what you don't know is that once it stops being a bazillion degrees in LA, I'm going to give pants-only a whirl (rather than return to jeans). I want only the outfit-making kind though, the pair that just pulls everything together and, like a one-and-done dress, gets me off and running lickety-split. For example(s): these by Sea, above, Edition10, J.Crew, James Jeans, Joseph, and The Reformation.

santa barbara style

My sis and I--and 150 others!--sailed into Santa Barbara this weekend to celebrate a friend's milestone birthday. Not only was the lush, seaside setting spectacular, but so was the fashion. I'm talking dresses galore, day and night. (Coco's dress, above left, is by Rhode Resort and mine is Mango. I also busted out this festive sequin Alexis dress on Friday night.) Other fanciful frocks that caught my eye at the festivities: this Lela Rose lace lovely, this Zimmermann off-the-shoulder (my sister also brought this one), and C/Meo Collective.

winter wovens

For those basket bag lovers out there (that would be me!), Caterina Bertini offers up a winter-ready version: a chunky-knit straw tote, complete with velvet ribbon handles. Too cute! I'm also besotted with her wool knit bucket bag, her Chanel-spirited shoulder bag, and chunky knit pouch. All under $120!

family affair

I've got an in with the peeps at Moda Operandi, which I want to share with you: 25% off with the code PRIVATE25 through 10/20. Up for grabs: Fall's newest must-haves, like the Veja sneakers, above, this coveted Proenza Schouler bucket bag, this faux fur Stella Jean jacket, and this party-ready lace Alexis dress.  Quick, shop it all here.

slips and sweaters

I've been on a dress-wearing streak lately. In fact, I can't remember the last time I wore a pair of jeans! LA's endless summer is enabling this stylish whim of mine, but I'm also hooked on the throw-on-and-go ease of a dress. I'd like to perpetuate my streak straight into fall with the no-fail slip-dress-sweater combo. It's a look that both comfortable, feminine and yes, throw on and go. I'd happily slip into these dresses by Asos, Alexander Wang, And Other Stories (also this one), Protagonist, and Free People.

red alert

I have a similar looking pair of Alexandre Birman heels that are currently in heavy rotation, but would love to sub in this fun red pair by Seed Heritage at a quarter of the price.

cool cardigan

I love the idea of wearing a cardigan as a jacket--and this is the time of year to do it (or at least we're getting close to it)! This nubby knit has all the trappings of outerwear: it's cozy, chunky, yet still light enough to be indoor friendly. It's hard to see from this pic, but the yarn bobbles form cute heart shapes. In other words, it's adorbs--and under $100. Yes, please!

strong suit

Just snapped up this statement-making jumpsuit that not only works day to night, but is customizable: you can shorten the length, close the cut-out on the bodice, add another arm ruffle or make the strap wider. I chose to keep as is, and can't wait to wear it!

sparkly styling

Teaming jeans with a button-down is a no brainer, but Leandra Medine, above, makes it look genius! Her styling hack: Elegant, sparkly sandals to add sophistication and an unbuttoned shirt for (unexpected!) sexiness. I'd like to pull off this chic look with any of these shimmery shoes from Isabel Marant, Sophia Webster, Frances Valentine, Badgley Mishka, and Aquazurra.

J.Crew is offering 30% off tons of just-in fall styles through 10/9, including the cute camo jacket, above, this sequin-trimmed cardigan, this striped turtleneck, this faux fur leopard vest, and these leather mules. Check it all out here.

good hood

The hooded sweatshirt--A.K.A., last year's go-to layering staple--is proving its staying power in Europe right now, where fashion show goers are sporting them underneath blazers and trenches. I'm planning to stay comfy and cozy too with this cheap and chic hoodie from H&M. I also like these versions from J.Crew, Vince and Isabel Marant.

step ahead

manolo blahnik maysale

A workday staple steeped in elegance is a rare find, which is why I'm obsessed with Manolo Blahnik's walk-everywhere, work-friendly, go-with-everything mules. Giorgia Tordini, above, pulls them off with aplomb in Paris.

the new uniform

Paris's fashion show front rowers are sporting a similar uniform, and, thankfully, it's a look I can wear any old day back in La La land. All I need: a good pair of straight-leg cropped jeans like these, these, and these; a fitted white t-shirt (such as this, this and this) and a boyfriend blazer (extra points if it has a check print). I like these toppers by Blaze Milano (immediately below), Maje, H&M, James Jeans, and Simon Miller. C'est bon!
