tucked in

Subtle nuances, we all know, can make or break an outfit. Well, the latest split second,  outfit-making styling trick is to simply tuck in your sweater. The shirt-like effect is polished, pulled together and up to date. To avoid muffin-top side effects, try cropped, lightweight knits such as these by Zara (pictured above), Topshop, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Endless Rose, Club Monaco and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini

fresh uniform

This pic inspires me to freshen up my jeans-and-top uniform with a feminine vintage-looking blouse, such as this, this, this, this and this (on sale!), along with colorful footwear, such as these by Via Spiga, J.Crew, Jeffrey Campbell, Kendall + Kylie Guiseppe Zanotti, Kate Spade, and Adenoah x Jonak (pictured above). I love it when simple substitutions yield super stylish benefits!

baby blues

Those not passionate about this season's pink sweater might prefer this pastel blue bell-sleeved H&M statement instead. As for me, I'll take both, please!

pinkalicious

Looks like there's no better way to update my winter wardrobe than with a hot pink sweater! I'm thinking it might just compensate for the lack of warm sunlight, plus it's the color right now (and next spring, too!). I'm eyeing these pink pretties from Ganni (pictured above and below), Vince, J.Crew, Acne Studios, Stella McCartney, H&M, and Spencer Vladimir.

resort ready

It's summer somewhere--hence justification for buying one of these cute cotton Rhode Resort dresses! (I already have one in yellow and love its flowy easiness.) I'm leaning toward the floral print on the top right!

hero pants

Who doesn't love a great pair of black pants? They are multitasking masters and impervious to trends. They're super versatile, amenable to any top and suitable with both heels and sneakers. One could say that they're the most hardworking wardrobe staple. So when I discovered this particularly well-fitting yet under-the-radar pair by San Francisco-based Taylor Stitch (pictured above) for $138, you could imagine my elation! They're sleek and tailored, cropped at the ankle and rendered in supremely comfortable stretch fabric. Seriously, perfection, people!

plush pink

More cheap and cheerful cuteness today comes from Pixie Market, with its pink faux fur top. I love that it works as a sweater or a jacket--and it's as comfy as can be. I wore mine around last week (in between LA's heatwaves!) and delighted in its fluffy pink plushness.

knit know-how

We all know that the best H&M pieces are the ones that prompt those incredulous "No, it can't be H&M!" comments. The long knit dress, above, falls into this most excellent category. Priced at $19(!),  it's "beautifully made," says pictured LA-based shoe designer Haley Boyd. I'm planning to wear it and turn some disbelieving heads on my own! The bag and shoes can be found here and here.

french finesse

For those endeavoring to crack the secret of French style, look no further than to my new real girl style crush, Paris-based stylist and fashion editor Adenorah Mais. Her wardrobe brims with distinctly Gallic accents, such as simple, feminine blouses, perfectly-fitting high-waisted jeans, striped Breton tops, year-round basket bags, and lace-up espadrilles. Like the chicest French femmes, Adenorah's outfits are effortlessly simple, comprised of closet classics--i.e., jeans, comfortable tops. The je ne sais quois happens when she adds inimitably cool accessories like a vibrant shoe or a retro-spirited ladylike bag. Some of her style signatures I'd like to integrate into my fashion mileu include this sailor striped Maje sweater (pictured immediately below), these reconstructed Levi's jeans (or these from Current/Elliott), these white Le Specs sunglasses, this striped J.Crew tee, this pinstriped Veronica Beard dress, this white vintage-looking For Love and Lemons blouse (or this one), this cropped Marc Jacobs jacket, this Sensi Studio basket bag (or these Jane Birkin-inspired vintage ones here and here), and these lace-up Loeffler Randall flats.

denim do

Everywhere I go, from a mid-week luncheon at the Chateau Marmont (above) to last night's festive Chanel 2016/17 Cruise presentation, my new Rebecca Taylor jean jacket is raking in loads of compliments. Trimmed with stretch tweed and a peplum hem, the jacket looks polished without being prim, plus it's infinitely versatile.

coco's crew

As you know my twin sis (A.K.A. Coco) regularly photographs the J.Crew catalog, but what you don't know is that during the shoots she is typically giving me real time updates on all her must-have favorites in that season's collection. Needless to say this gets my juices flowing, and I can then hardly wait for the next catalog/collection to drop. Well the time has come once again, and the goods are here! Among the Coco-approved desirables, doubly confirmed by yours truly, are the cute, cropped and two-toned green chinos (above), this tie-neck tuxedo blouse, this sleek ribbon-trimmed coat, these party-ready PJ pants, this everyday-chic tie-neck sweater, this easy breezy white blouse, this lush pink tweed coat, these ankle strap zebra print flats and this mensy check print coat. Enjoy!

checks and balances

I'm loving all the checked blazers out and about this fall, specifically their sophisticated masculine vibe and outfit-polishing power. They look extra chic and modern styled with unexpectedly casual pieces, like a hoodie or a t-shirt (see last pic from H&M). Check out these chic checked blazers from Balenciaga (below), J.Crew, Olivia Palermo + Chelsea 28, and Veronica Beard.

one-shoulder wonder

I don't know if I'm feeling the one-shoulder outerwear trend (too contrived!), but I thoroughly support taking the one-shoulder trend into cooler weather with this Theory top!

turtleneck triumph

Oozing with coziness and covered-up warmth, this And Other Stories turtleneck also features an unexpected peekaboo slit, offering myriad cardigan-like layering possibilities. I'd like to throw it over a lace-trimmed lingerie-like camisole like this or this, or a print blouse such as this or this, and, on bitterly cold days, a vibrant knit like this, this or this!
