slip in sneaks

Leave it to Celine to re-imagine the old slip-on Vans-style sneaker and make it a (highly coveted) thing. New York-based uber makeup artist Gucci Westman sported Celine's snake print sneaks pretty much everyday during New York Fashion Week. Zara, of course, has already come out with its iteration (a black pony hair riff on Celine's blue pony-hair original, pictured below), but, it's not yet available online. My sister, however, managed to snap up a pair this week in LA. (In Europe I've heard it's long been sold out.) Have no fear, because there are other compelling options to be had from Vince, Chausseure Lapin, and Vans.

And Vans will let you custom-make a pair of your own (you choose from several options for the tongue, back, sides, etc) for about $65. My husband and I both did it last year and it took six weeks to get them, but they're awesome.

Vans were what I wore when I was 15; they're what I still wear. All the rest are just pikers. :)

Loving the sneakers for spring so much I did an entire blog post about them earlier this week!
I love the Celine ones, but I think that old school checkerboard Vans are more in my price range!

I love the leather pants in the first picture! Any idea who makes those - given the Celine shoes and Chanel bag...

Vans rule! I adore Celine but find it hilarious to wear their sneakers when Vans ooze so much more of a cool factor.
